Competitive Rowing

Our members regularly train for and attend a variety of local and away regattas, and all members are invited to participate.

Our Club Coach, Micah Talbot, is responsible for the organisation and day-to-day management of competitive rowing within the Club. Micah can be contacted via email here

General Open

The Club's open rowers range between 17 and 27 years of age, and include university students. They train together, or in combination with the masters rowers.

Masters

The masters rowing scene in Townsville is one of the strongest masters sports in the North Qld region. Masters rowing is a stalwart aspect of the structure of our club; the masters are just as competitive and serious about their training and racing as the younger members. Their continued impressive results at regattas are the cornerstone of our reputation of being a strong and fiercely competitive club. Several members have represented Queensland in state masters squads. Open to those aged 27 and over and of any ability, this group is highly self-motivated but also social and welcoming.

Townsville & JCU Premiership Regatta

We hold our annual regatta in April each year and it's always a great event. Competitors from across the North Qld Region (Mackay through Cairns) come to spend the weekend battling it out in a wide range of boat classes. A designated Rowing Queensland Premiership regatta, competitors can earn points towards their club's position on the state-wide leaderboard. It's also an opportunity to catch up with comrades -- the rowing community in the north has a lovely friendly vibe!
